Collin Wayne McGuire

Most know that at 13 weeks pregnant, Tim and I found out that I had a massive subchorionic hematoma (large blot clot) in my uterus. The doctor and ultrasound techs called him (yep it is a Boy) a miracle baby and knew he was going to do great things. Up until I was about 22 weeks pregnant, everything seemed to be going pretty smoothly. I continued to bleed until the blot clot was gone and my doctor kept an extra eye on everything. I took progesterone shots to try to relax my uterus in hopes I would not start contracting. On our way home to Indiana Christmas Eve, I started having severe pains in my back along with increased bleeding. The back pain was new but bleeding at this point was pretty common. When we returned to Missouri, I made an appointment with my doctor because of a rash I had developed on my hip where I get the progesterone shot. I also talked to her about the back pain and she said that I was having contractions and this was likely due to the size of the blood clot and to continue to expect these back pains. She was okay with the contractions as longs as I did not start dilating. This continued over the next week and then Tuesday, Jan. 4th, I went to work and throughout the day I began to notice I was having contractions pretty regularly. Again, I made an appointment with the doctor. The ultrasound told us that baby was looking good and the blood clot seemed to have diminished. I then went to see the doctor and after her exam she told me I was 2-3 cm dilated and sent me to the hospital to see if we could stop the contractions. Long story short, the contractions stopped and I was to stay in the hospital on complete bed rest. Tim and I were told what that the chances of the baby surviving at 23 weeks was low but we all remained hopeful especially with the steroid shots (which is like adding an extra 7 days). Early Saturday morning, January 8, the contractions started again along with a fever. When the doctor arrived, we all made the decision to have the baby. My blood pressure was dropping and after an ultrasound the doctor noticed my placenta was beginning to detach. Collin Wayne McGuire was born at 1:52 am January 8, 2011. He weighed 1 lb. 3 oz. and was 11.5 inches long. The NICU doctors did their very best but he was only able to hang on for a couple of hours. How do a Mother and Father begin to deal with the pain of the loss of a child? This is so unfair...

It's official...

We are having baby number two. I am 10 weeks pregnant today. So far I have been very, very nauseous. My doc gave me some anti-nausea medicine so I could at least get some food in my stomach and the nausea is slowly starting to dissipate. My due date is May 4, 2011. Even though Tim and I really don't care whether we have a boy or girl, I think everyone (including us) thinks this one is a baby girl...only time will tell. A couple of my appointment have been made so we will be finding out the sex of the baby on December 10, 2010 if nothing changes, appointment wise, between now and then. Stay tuned...

Cape Splash

Ayden's Aunt Molly came in town this weekend and the three of us took Ayden to Cape's new water park, Cape Splash. We all had a great time. They have tons of thing for the kiddos and we all three had a fun in the Lazy River and Vortex Pool.

Actually this is just a picture of Ayden playing Superman with Mommy and Mamaw...luckily she didn't get any pictures of me flying around!

Also, Ayden is starting to learn to get used to the water...it took him a while but with Mamaw's patience she was actually able to get him to let go of his death grip and kick his feet in the water a little bit on his own...it's a start!!

VACATION 2010

We just got back from our vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC on Sunday and we had an amazing time. The condo was great and had lots of room for the six adults and two kids. Thank you Mom and Dad for spoiling all of us with this wonderful vacation...I couldnt ask for anything more. Here are so silly pictures from the past week:

Happy Birthday Ayden...

Again...we finally got our Internet working!! Hopefully our problems have been solved and I can keep this blog updated. I really need to dust off the old camera and start taking pictures of him again like I used to.

I can't believe he is really two! Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to his party and to everyone who send him presents. You are all so thoughtful and he loved everything.

TWO is definitely a crazy stage...he surprises me with new words and phrases everyday! We are starting to really throw some temper tantrums when we don't get our way...I think he knows that it breaks my heart when he gets the tears flowing! It's a total show!!

Gymnastics

Ayden just completed his first 8 week session of toddler gymnastics. It was really more of a run around and play time with new children. He did learn many things from a front filp to going across the room on a zip line. For the most part, I think he really enjoyed it.

Children's Museum

Cape Girardeau now has a small children's museum called the Discovery Playhouse. Since is was raining out all day today, we decided to load up and take Ayden. He had a great time...they have a dentist office, bank, grocery store, real fire truck, and lots of different activities for kids. We were only there for an hour but probably could have stayed all day.

Manhattan, Kansas

Last weekend Tim, Ayden and I went to K-State University to see Tim's little sister, Molly, receive her "white coat" at their White Coat Ceremony. It was a long trip to take in such a short period of time but it was great to see her, Lisa, Aunt Mickey, Uncle Fred, Maddie, Grandma McGuire and Jackie. While we were there we went to the Tulip festival, Oz Museum and Oz Winery in Wamego, Kansas.

My mom got a new Nikon D3000 camera for Christmas and is begining to enjoy taking many pictures of the family. She came to Missouri this weekend and we went to an old covered bridge near our house to take some family pictures of Tim, Ayden and I. Here is a sneak peak...I am so proud of her. I know I am not the easiest to please and I think she did a wonderful job!!

Easter Egg Hunt

My New Year's resolution should have been to start taking more pictures of our little man! We went to visit some friends in Indy last weekend and the only pictures I took were at the easter egg hunt. I have a really cute video from it also that I will have to post when I get some time to edit it. We had a blast, the kids got to participate in an Easter Egg hunt and Emalyn won the coloring contest for her age group (she rocks).

The Big Boy Bed

We finally converted Ayden's crib to his toddler bed. It look a few days to get used to it but he has now been in the toddler bed for a few months now and is a pro. He doesnt get up in the middle of the night to come into our bed anymore and goes stright to bed after giving out his kisses to Mommy, Daddy and Payton.
