One Week Dr. Appointment

Grandma and I went to Ayden’s 1 week Dr. appointment today. Ayden lost a little weight and now weighted 5 pounds, 12 ounces. Normal, but I was still a little worried he was not getting enough to eat since I was still breast feeding. He was beginning to look a little yellow so we were sent back to the hospital for a Jaundice test and another hearing screening. Jaundice results came back normal but his right ear deferred the hearing screening for the second time.

Home Sweet Home

After a couple of days in the hospital we finally were released and able to go home. Aunt Jen came to visit and take care of mommy before Grandma and Grandpa Lock came again over the weekend. Mom stayed through the week to help us out as new parents.

The Big Day!!!

MY WATER JUST BROKE! I had been having contractions all Monday evening and didn’t really think anything of it until I realized I had been awake all night and it was now 1:00am and I was still having contractions. This was the longest period I had contractions and was beginning to think “Could this be it?” I got up around 3:00am to go to the restroom for what seemed like the millionth time that night and what do you know. I stood up and my water broke. I woke up Tim, told him what happened and got into the car and headed for the hospital…this time ready to have the baby and very prepared!! We called our parent on the way and let them know we were going to have a baby!!

When we arrived at the hospital, they weighed me and did a test to see if my water had actually broken. I was right!! They got me admitted and into a labor and delivery suite. I was contracting and 3cm dilated. We were defiantly having this baby today, on my birthday!!! Dr. Woolard came in to see me around 7:00. Since my water broke they did not want me holding the baby for more that 12 hours due to the increase risk of infection. They were going to set up and IV with Potocin to increase my contractions. For the next few hours nurses were in and out checking my progression while we waited anxiously. I had not had any sleep and the contractions were beginning to hurt so they brought in the anesthesiologist to hook up my Epidural. What a miracle drug!! I was able to relax and rest a little bit before the big event. After about an hour the nurse came in to increase the Potocin because I was at 8 cm and told me to let her know when I began to feel like I needed to push. It was 3:00pm and they wanted me to have the baby soon. Okay, no problem…then it hit me like a ton of bricks. Oh my gosh…it was time to have our baby!! I told Tim to go get the nurse, I was ready!! She came in and confirmed it; I was 10 cm dilated and ready to go. She had the nurse call Dr. Woolard and with in the next 30 minutes, Baby Ayden was here!!

He was so little and beautiful. Weighing in a 6 pounds, 3 ounces and 18 ¾ inches long. He had beautiful blue eyes and a little bit of light hair. He was our perfect little angel!!

Still No Baby

Well, I made it through the weekend and no baby. Mom left on Sunday with the orders of me not to have the baby until she comes back!! Yesterday was Mother’s Day I got a card and a video camera from everyone so we can take lots of pictures!!

Went to see Dr. Woolard. I was hoping that she would take me off of bed rest and let me go back to work so that I could save my time off for after Baby Ayden was here. No such luck. She said that since he was still small and he did gain some weight while I was no bed rest, she wanted me to continue what I was doing so he could continue to grow.

We went home that evening very disappointed and extremely anxious. Another night of counting contractions…

He is Growing

Went to the hospital for the ultrasound. Baby Ayden gained one pound which pleased Dr. Woolard. I am now to stop the Procardia and she believes that I would progress into labor naturally by this weekend. If not she was to see me on Monday for a check up.

I was getting very anxious now. I have been on bed rest for almost three weeks and it is getting more difficult everyday. I am now more ready than ever to meet our new little baby boy!! Mom came in to Cape Girardeau with the hopes that I would go into labor this weekend while she was there. We went shopping every day and out to dinner to try and encourage our little man to come join us.

Another Dr.'s Appoinment

Went in for non-stress test and Dr.’s appointment. Contractions were strong during the non-stress test. Dr. Woolard scheduled an ultrasound for Thursday to see if the prescribed bed rest as helped Baby Ayden to grow. If she wasn’t happy with his weight gain she would possibly induce me that Thursday. If we were lucky and he did gain weight, she would take me off of the Procardia and let me naturally go into labor. I was to see her again Thursday afternoon to discuss the ultrasound results.

Still on Bed Rest...

Met with Dr. Woolard. The non stress test went well and she still wants to keep me on bed rest with Procardia. I will see her again on Monday.

Bed rest is getting really difficult. It is hard to be home and not do anything. Tim is taking very good care of me by calling and checking throughout the day, making dinner every night, and keeping up with the house work.
